Anti-social behaviour between football fans was reported outside Bromley South railway station at the weekend.

The trouble started after Bromley FC beat local rivals Maidstone United 2-0 in the National League at Hayes Lane on Saturday afternoon.

Fans were seen taunting each other after the clash at Bromley South where police were quickly called to calm the situation down.

One man who was outside the station told News Shopper: "Two police cars and around a dozen police were lined up outside the station.

"There have been scuffles. I saw two policemen push two blokes onto the pavement and contained them in front of the station."

A police spokesman told News Shopper "no altercation took place" but that "rival fans attempted to square up" before dispersing after being anti-social.

Lifelong Bromley fan, Dave Roberts, author of The Bromley Boys, tweeted: "There was a bit of trouble at Bromley South after today's game, and one cop was saying to another 'non-league fans are worse than league fans. They feel they have to show off'. Not sure what to make of this."

Afterwards Dave told News Shopper: "I didn't see anything violent, the police turned up en masse and sorted it pretty quickly. I think it was more shouting and threatening than actual fighting."

British Transport Police confirmed they were called at 5.15pm.

A spokesman added: "We were made aware of a group gathering in an area a few streets from the station."

He said officers from the Met arrived to prevent any trouble escalating.
