Network Rail has got to work clearing the mess that occurred after a landslide near Bexleyheath.
The landslip occurred on Monday morning, bringing severe disruption including cancellations between Bexleyheath and Barnehurst and now passengers face a week of disruption.
Southeastern has now said that the scale of the landslip meant there could be no service through Bexleyheath station until the weekend and has advised passengers to seek alternative routes.
The train operator said: "On Monday morning, there was a landslip on a railway cutting between Barnehurst and Bexleyheath, resulting in 400 tonnes of debris and trees falling to the track. As a result, the line is blocked in both directions.
"Because of this, Network Rail have had to close the Bexleyheath line (between Blackheath and Barnehurst) until at least the weekend to allow for repairs to take place."
Southeastern said trains typically passing through Bexleyheath would instead divert via Sidcup or Woolwich, while others might be cancelled until the line was re-opened.
Bus replacements are now in place as employees work throughout the day and overnight to try and clear the 60 tonnes of material.
Work is now taking place on securing the banks so this doesn't happen again any time soon.
