Ikea has released a photo of the brand new store in Greenwich, which will open in less than a month, so what do we know so far?

When will the new store open?

Ikea is set to open on February 7.

Where will it be located?

The new store is based just off Bugsby Way on the Millennium Way Retail Park in Greenwich, which is surrounded by plenty of public transport links, including being close to North Greenwich Tube station.

The managers of the new Ikea are counting on the good transport links to stop so many people using cars, ensuring that not only the store is sustainable but enabling customers to travel sustainably too.

What if I can’t use public transport or need to carry something heavy home?

Ikea just wants people to bring their keys, phones and wallets and let the staff do the rest, so there will also be an onsite minicab service as well as electric vehicles for customers to hire. There will be 20 electric car-charging points, at least 75 cycle spaces and it will be served by six different bus routes.

What else do I need to know?

Ikea Greenwich will be the retailer's "leading sustainable store" and will be implementing the latest technology to help make it more environmentally friendly.

Apart from the usual facilities such as a restaurant and a creche, there will also be a rooftop pavilion that can hold 500 people with a bookable space for those wanting to hold meetings or workshops.

How will it be sustainable?

Ikea Greenwich is designed to be the company's most sustainable store through greywater recycling, rainwater treatment, solar panels and a sensory wildlife garden.

The Swedish furniture giant has also teamed up with Zedify, the zero-emission courier service, as part of their sustainability strategy.

Does Ikea deliver?

For the lucky people in the Greenwich borough there will be a 24-hour delivery service, however this will not be extended out of the borough just yet. It will still deliver it just might take a little longer.
