Plans to build 100 new homes in Swanscombe have been approved with preparation works already taking place on the site.
The Ebbsfleet Development Corporation has approved the application for the new development, dubbed Ebbsfleet Cross, which will see 100 two and three-bedroom apartments built in Craylands Lane.

Sales director at Bellway Thames Gateway, Emma Hamlett said: “The new site within Ebbsfleet Garden City is part of a new chapter, adding homes to an area that has a burgeoning population.
"We are delighted with the approved designs, and we are confident the development will quickly become an integral part of the neighbourhood, offering first-time buyers, families and downsizers an excellent variety of options.
"The development is within striking distance to Greenhithe, Swanscombe and Ebbsfleet International stations, ideal for travelling professionals.”

The initial application was submitted in 2014 and given approval by Dartford Council in 2015,
Since then, a number of reports and surveys have been conducted within the area, including a reptile mitigation strategy which resulted in a number of snakes and lizards having to be relocated away from the site.
It is anticipated construction work will begin later this year with the first phase of homes completing in summer 2020.
