Volunteers leading the search for missing Dartford mum Sarah Wellgreen are asking the public to donate to a new online fundraiser aimed at supporting her children.
The Sarah Wellgreen Trust fund was launched on December 21 by those who have been coordinating the volunteer searches for the missing mum-of-five and who have also been operating the Search for Sarah Wellgreen Facebook page.
Speaking to News Shopper, volunteer coordinator Tracy Wood, explained that the funds raised from this campaign will directly benefit Ms Wellgreen's five children and provide them with support in the future.
"People had asked if they could make donations, so we always thought this would be something we should look into.
"This will give some long term support to a family of five children who are facing a future without their mother," she said.
Ms Wood explained that the volunteers involved have been working with local solicitors and accountants who specialise in trust funds to make sure that all money donated will go directly to the children.
At the time of writing, the GoFundMe page has raised close to £2,400.
Ms Woods, of the Sevenoaks area, told this reporter that she got involved in the campaign as she is also a mother of five kids and resonated with Ms Wellgreen's own children's feelings.
"I have five young children myself and this really hit a nerve with me. I don't know Sarah or the family but I am local and just wanted to help these kids," she said.
The online fundraiser is still open to donations from the public with a target of £50,000 set as the projected goal.
"This is a local family who the public have really gotten behind.
"You can’t make this better for the children right now but we can help with their future. It would make a huge difference to these kids," said Ms Wood.
Sarah Wellgreen was last seen in the Bazes Shaw Area of New Ash Green on October 9. She has not been in contact with her family since.
Ms Wellgreen 's ex-partner, Ben Lacomba, 38, has been charged with her murder and appeared before Medway magistrates on December 21 and then Maidstone Crown Court.
He was remanded in custody to reappear at Maidstone Crown Court on January 18.
The search for Sarah Wellgreen is ongoing.
