Nine children and three adults in Bexley managed to escape before a blaze tore through part of a flat on the 12th floor of a building, the London Fire Brigade has revealed.
Six fire engines and around 35 firefighters were called to the building on Kale Road in Erith at 6.19am on December 23.
Fire crews from Plumstead, Erith, Bexley and East Greenwich fire stations were at the scene and the fire was under control by 7.10am.
According to a post on Facebook, the fire was reportedly started by a cooker in the kitchen.
The London Fire Brigade did not report any injuries, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
