CHILDREN and parents enjoyed a fun day in the sun to raise money for their primary school.

More than 1,000 people attended the parents' association event to raise cash for new playground equipment at Our Lady of Hartley School.

The day, which raised more than £5,000, included a bird of prey display, pony rides, Irish and African dancing and a bouncy castle.

There was also a beer tent, a barbecue and a carousel at the school in Stack Lane, Hartley.

Headteacher Margaret Baynes said: "It was a fantastic day and everybody had a great time.

"It was wonderful the sun shone brightly all day, which made the event perfect from start to finish."
