The sister of a man found hanging in Oxleas Woods is looking for justice after she says her brother was let down by the mental health system.
Garry Guest was just 32 when he was found hanging from a tree in Oxleas Woods on August 7 by a passing dog walker.
The police arrived shortly after 7am and cordoned off the area and his family was told shortly afterwards.
Georgia Guest said that her brother had spent some time in Oxleas House, a place for those struggling with mental health issues, but was told to leave due to space limitations.
She told News Shopper: “He had been out a week and on Monday, August 6, well, the worst nightmare had happened - he felt really suicidal.
“He called Oxleas and asked to be put back in as he was thinking a lot of stuff. He had never had these thoughts before in his life, but they said to him no there is no bed space and to just go A&E.”
She said that Garry started feeling very down and occasionally hearing voices around seven years ago, but he had recently turned a corner and had not suffered for a while.
Georgia said: “He was the most loving, caring, most respectful boy ever and was the most amazing dad.
“He was an amazing person and definitely one of a kind, he will be truly missed by everyone and left a big hole in so many people’s hearts.
“You have left behind so many people that care and a wonderful girlfriend and the most beautiful princess in the world.”
Garry's daughter is just three-years-old and was cared for solely by her doting father.
Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust were approached for comment but declined to give one.
Anyone affected is urged to call Samaritans on 116 123, a line which is free 24 hours a day.
