THE mayor is backing a campaign promoting a drug-free message to young people.
Swing band the Jive Aces played to a large crowd on Bromley High Street, mixing music and a serious message about the risks of drug use, on August 24.
Bromley mayor Councillor Pauline Tunnicliffe was the first to sign a drug-free pledge and encouraged others to do the same.
The event was part of a London-wide campaign to raise awareness about the physical and mental side-effects of street drugs such as crystal meth.
It is being sponsored by the Church of Scientology in London.
A report by the Greater London Alcohol and Drug Alliance, which tackles substance abuse, and the London Health Observatory, which monitors health, estimates one person dies every 30 hours in the capital due to drug use.
