A 19-year-old woman has been hailed a hero by her mum after she helped a woman with Alzheimer's find her way home.
Georgia Delius, from Bexleyheath, finished work on Wednesday (August 22) and was waiting for a bus at Grove Park when an elderly woman approached her.
“She said she needed to get to Grove Park but we were already there,” Georgie told News Shopper.
The woman then said she needed to get off the bus at Dunkery Road.
Georgia became more concerned when she sat on the bus behind the woman.
She said: “Every few minutes she was getting up and then hesitating. She didn’t know where she was going.
“When she got off I got off too because I wasn’t sure she knew where she was.”
The elderly woman gave Georgia her purse but no contact details or phone were available.
Georgia felt she had no choice but to ask police for help and waited with her for almost an hour until they arrived.
“The police said they recognised her,” she said. “The woman tried to give me five pounds but I told her she didn’t need to.”
Georgia later learned that the woman was missing from her home for eight hours and was an 85-year-old Alzheimer’s patient.
She explained why she took the time to make sure the woman got home.
“Everyone else was just looking and nobody else tried to help. If that was my nan in a similar position I would want someone to help and make sure that was safe.”
Her mother Michele Delius said: "She's the hero, I'm just the proud mum."
