A small rugby club in Hayes has had a huge community reaction after its facilities were left trashed after a three-day traveller incursion.

Not only was property wrecked and goods stolen but a dog dead was dumped before police forced the travellers out on Sunday (August 19).

Park House Football Club called the saga a “complete disgrace” before starting a GoFundMe page to help cover the costs.

Up to 40 caravans set up camp at its pitches in Barnet Wood Road after locks were cut off two gates.

During the incursion they smashed their way into the clubhouse before helping themselves.

The club's initial fundraising target was £2,000 but the Hayes community has rallied and so far donated more than £3,500.

The club says it will publish the costs of everything it buys, with the remaining money going towards the Wooden Spoon charity.

A spokesman for the club told News Shopper: “There was huge rubbish left behind, human excrement and a dog who was beaten to death in a field.

“It is a complete disgrace. The police were really helpful but they were woefully undermanned.

“We are starting a campaign with our MPs next week for tougher action."
