Children in Beckenham found the remains of a decapitated cat on a driveway in what is thought to be the latest attack by the so-called Croydon cat killer.
Carole Marchant was leaving for work on Monday (August 1) when she found her 17-year-old cat Harriet’s collar and a chunk of her fur by her doorstep in Whitecroft Way.
“I knew then she was dead,” Carole told News Shopper.
Her husband returned home from work to help find Harriet but a member of South Norwood Animal Rescue and Liberty (SNARL) rang Carole at 4.45pm that evening to explain Harriet was the latest victim of the cat killer.
Carole, 43, said: “The killer left her on a drive on the next road from us. Kids found her I believe.
“There was no head or no front paw. Her intestines were all out.”
She added she hopes this never happens to anyone else and thanked both SNARL and the police for their assistance.

Remembering her beloved cat, Carole said: “She was crazy and the feistiest old cat. She loved her mummy and daddy.
“She was just like an old lady and reminded me of Joan Collins,” Carole laughed.
In a statement SNARL posted: “We confirm that Harriet was a victim of the person known as the UK animal killer. Our condolences to her family and our thanks to them for their bravery in sharing what has happened.
“Our thanks to officers from Bromley police who were excellent in their response.”
