The Danson Festival is dead, long live the Danson Festival.
The hugely popular summer event in Bexley, which used to attract crowds of 60,000 people to Danson Park, was cancelled in 2014 due to “poor ground conditions caused by bad weather”.
It was called off the following year for the same reason, prompting a strong online campaign to bring it back.
Sadly, the festival has never returned since and Bexley Council confirmed this week it won’t be taking place again.
Today (July 7) is the fifth anniversary of when the event was held for the last time.
To commiserate over the loss of this much-loved festival we’ve created a super-gallery of photos so you can relive some of the fun that was had there down the years.
Our images cover the period of 2003 to the final year of the Danson Festival in 2013. Perhaps they’ll bring back some happy memories, and maybe you’ll even spot yourself.
Enjoy this look back.
