A health-focused food festival is coming to Bexley this summer as the council urges people to make healthier and 'greener' choices with their diets.
The 'Good Grub Festival' will be held at Hurst Community Centre in Sidcup on July 14, inviting people to sample healthy foods and take park in free exercise taster sessions, including Bollywood dancing and kick boxing.
The festival has been organised as part of the 'Small Change, Big Difference' campaign across the capital, encouraging Londoners to improve their diets and protect the environment with their food choices.
It aims to make people think about what they eat to reduce waste and improve nutrition.
As part of the campaign, Bexley residents are being encouraged to share their recipes for using up leftovers. Anyone who wants to submit a recipe can email it to wasteteam@bexley.gov.uk. The deadline for entries is July 22.
Cllr Peter Craske, cabinet member for places at Bexley Council, said: “Thanks to our residents, Bexley has topped the London wide recycling charts for the last 13 years, but there is more we can do.
"We want to help Bexley residents save money and live more sustainable lives by reducing and recycling food waste and we’ll be providing tips showing just how making one small change can make a big difference.”
