Dartford Council has admitted a ticket officer "made a mistake" after a car involved in Tuesday evening's bus crash was ticketed this morning (May 30).
The crash, in which a bus ploughed into 25 cars, happened in Hythe Street in Dartford town centre. A man, believed to be the driver of the bus, was arrested on suspicion of careless driving.
17 people were reportedly injured during the crash, with one person involved requiring oxygen treatment at the scene and one person taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
On Wednesday morning, the Council was forced to admit an error was made after a car involved in the crash on Hythe Street was given a parking ticket.
After outrage ensued on social media when reports of the ticketed car circulated, council leader Jeremy Kite announced in Dartford Living Community Group that the ticket officer made a mistake and the ticket had now been cancelled.
A council spokesman said: "An officer was trying to keep the street clear this morning.
"In doing so, she ticketed a car that was parked outside a cafe.
"She then made a mistake and ticketed a car involved in the incident.
"She made a mistake and the ticket was cancelled immediately."
He added the car parked outside a cafe was rightfully given a parking ticket.
