A new market is coming to Beckenham Mansion after a two year battle to find a permanent site.
On Sunday, May 20, a monthly evening market will open in Beckenham Place Park, which will include a bar, shopping stalls, table tennis and music.
Beckenham resident Selina Mifsud is the one who made the idea into a reality.
The 35-year-old told News Shopper: “It is going to bring something very quirky to Beckenham. It will be individual and unique.
“It is family friendly and dog friendly. We are on the ground by the beautiful surroundings. I want it to be a real community hub for Beckenham.
“Come down to shop locally, have a coffee, listen to music or have a few drinks at the bar.”
The monthly artisan market will open on the third Sunday of every month from 10am.
A weekly food market is also coming to Beckenham Place Park, which will be unveiled for the first time on Thursday, May 17, between 5pm and 10.30pm.
“I am super excited about it,” Selina said. “The street food is from London’s top traders. It is a completely unique setting.
“There is nothing like this in south-east London.”
