A Bexleyheath bowls club is encouraging locals to put on their flat shoes and give the sport a try as it offers free trial sessions for prospective new members.
Bexleyheath and Barnehurst Bowls Club is offering five open days for anyone who wants to try their hand, from beginners to pros.
Don Mackglew, Chair of the Club, has been playing bowls for five years. He said: “Bowls is a healthy way of keeping fit, staying active and making friends.
“People who have joined the club in the last few years say they love it.”
He added that, as well as playing bowls, the club regularly organises social events.
Anyone who wants to give the sport a try can drop in to a free session at the Club on Long Lane on:
• Saturday, May 12 from 10am-1pm
• Sunday, May 13 from 10am-1pm
• Sunday, May 20 from 10am-1pm
• Monday, May 21 from 5pm-7pm
• Monday, June 4 from 5pm-7pm
Aspiring bowls players interested in joining the club should turn up wearing flat shoes, and will be able to speak to club members for any advice.
