The mother of a teenage girl who says she was sexually assaulted on a bus in Bexleyheath has appealed for help from the public - with no arrests having yet been made.
The reported assault is said to have taken place on the 99 bus in the Broadway area of Bexleyheath at around 5.30pm on March 7, and was reported to the police.
At the time, Scotland Yard appealed for witnesses. A spokesperson said: "The victim, a girl in her teens, reported being approached by another passenger who sat down next to her and tried to start a conversation before touching her sexually.
"The suspect has been described as an Asian man in his late 40s or early 50s, with a scar under his right eye."
So far no arrests have been made in connection with the attack and officers say that enquiries are ongoing.
Speaking to News Shopper, the girl's mother, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said: "The thought of it is enough to drive me insane - that he's out there."
She said her daughter was only able to get back on a bus this week, but had to stand by the driver's booth and was on the phone to her mother for the entire journey.
"I'm an over-protective mother anyway, but I've got to let her get back on a bus. I've got to reassure her," she added.
She also repeated her daughter's description of the alleged attacker: A man in his 40s or 50s of Asian descent, with a scar under his right eye that looked like a chickenpox scar.
She described him as being about 5ft 3in tall, wearing a brown coat and smelled strongly of alcohol. She said he was speaking with a younger woman, also of Asian descent, before moving seats to sit next to her daughter.
After moving seats, he is alleged to have begun to ask her about herself before touching her inappropriately. She got off the bus at the next stop and called the police.
