SCOUTS in Bexley joined the millions across the world in celebrating the movement's 100th birthday.
At 8am on August 1, they took part in a sunrise ceremony to renew their Scouting promise.
Up to 200 members of the East Wickham and Welling Scout District held their ceremony at Woodlands Farm, at Shooters Hill, Welling.
A member of each of the Scouting sections joined Bexley's mayor and mayoress Councillor Nigel Betts and his wife Hilary.
Members of the 16th Erith troop went a step further.
After taking part in the sunrise ceremony, they celebrated with a trip to London which included several tourist attractions and a river cruise back to Greenwich.
There they met up with their Cubs and Beavers to stand on the Meridian line and renew their promise for a second time, before enjoying a cetenary party at their headquarters in The Pantiles, Bexleyheath.
