Fire fighters rushed inside the Blackwall Tunnel this morning after a car burst into flames.
London Fire Brigade said crews faced a car fire inside the tunnel, causing disruption for drivers travelling north nearby.
The tunnel was closed until around 1pm, leaving traffic stationary nearby.
I could see orange in the tunnel ahead getting brighter and brighter and was terrified there was no gap and the fire would spread backwards. Everyone was just sat in their cars. Lept out, ran to the front to find this.. #blackwalltunnel #fire #blackwall #london #carfire pic.twitter.com/zgaETLlN7k

Congestion stretched back to Woolwich Road because of the fire - which is in the middle of the tunnel.
Traffic trapped inside the tunnel had to reverse back and the 108 bus is had to be diverted away from the scene.
LLFB said it is not clear what caused the fire, which is now extinguished.
