Delays of 40 minutes are expected on the M25 between junctions 5 and 6 following a crane fire and diesel spillage on the M26.
Traffic was completely stopped while emergency services and Highways England dealt with the incident, which started at about 4.20pm.
The spillage has been cleared and the fire is out.
