The Met Office prediction of snow in London has proved correct as the first flurries for this winter have fallen.
Yesterday the Met Office issued a yellow warning for snow and ice that would possibly hit London and surrounding areas, and there is now confirmed snowfall in the air.

People in Petts Wood, Dartford and Battersea have told us they've seen flurries, while snow's fallen lightly in central London.

A Met Office weather warning for a swathe of the eastern UK says: "Occasional heavy wintry showers are expected, mainly during Thursday afternoon and evening. 2-5 cm of snow may accumulate on ground above 100 m.

"Journey times may be longer by road, bus and rail. Icy stretches are also expected to form on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths or where showers cause wash off on treated roads, particularly during Thursday evening and Friday morning."

Temperatures have dropped below freezing and there are warnings it could get colder still.
