Woolwich’s Hindu temple saw hundreds of people, including local MPs, take part in festivities as they celebrated Diwali.
The Hindu festival of light saw a string of events throughout the week, starting on October 16, after three years of work preparing for it.
Apart from prayers and readings from scriptures, there were children’s plays, dances, fireworks and over 100 different varieties of international food to try.
Raksha Bhanderi, from SKSS Temple Woolwich, said: “With hundreds of people from the community, children and leading teaching staff from local school visits, Revd. Clive Welham and Matthew Pennycook MP of Greenwich and Woolwich joining to mark this auspicious occasion, it was definitely to be one to remember.”
