Lidl has been forced to recall bags of peanuts because the label fails to warn in English that the product contains nuts.
The budget supermarket has pulled bags of 200g Alesto Honey Peanuts off shelves over fears they could be accidentally eaten by anyone with a nut allergy.
The supermarket notice states the word peanuts has not been declared in English on a small number of packets.
The omission has sparked a recall, as Lidl is told to clear the product from its shelves.
The Food Standards Agency warned anyone with a nut allergy not to eat the bag of peanuts.
If you have bought the product and you suffer from a nut allergy, Lidl advised customers to return it for a full refund.
This is not the first time Lidl has had to recall items because of label failures, after tins of herring were removed from shelves because it failed to warn the product contained fish.
The labels on the Nixe brand assorted ‘Herring Fillets’ products did not state all of the allergens which may be in the product, including fish.
