A clever canine has helped warn Bexleyheath residents of the dangers of illegal tobacco in the UK.
On Monday, November 23, Broadway become the venue for a roadshow that highlights the efforts of trading standards, the health and enforcement sector and private tobacco companies in the fight against counterfeit tobacco goods.
The roadshow starred Phoebe, a specially trained dog, able to sniff out the many hazardous chemicals and contents that can be present in illegal tobacco.
Previous seizures have revealed that counterfeit cigarettes and tobacco may contain asbestos, mould, dust, rat droppings and human excrement.
Developed by dog detection handlers BWY Canine, the event aimed to spread awareness on how to identify illegal tobacco products, the impact of these products on public health and the impact on the economy.
