Brandy, an Abyssinian cross of advanced years, was adopted by the Roach family twelve years ago as a two year old from Katz Kastle, an animal shelter in Cobham, Surrey.
Originally from east London, Brandy settled in to suburban life in Worcester Park very quickly.
Diagnosed with diabetes nearly eight years ago, he has insulin injections twice a day and a strict diet to keep him trim and healthy.
He is a sociable cat, enjoys the company of his family and will promptly make himself very comfortable on any unsuspecting visitor’s lap.
A passive gardener, he supervises from the sun lounger and prefers to observe local moggies, using his patch as a short cut, rather than chase them off.
He was nominated Sarah Roach, who said: “He stays close to home always. His arthritis means that he is no longer able to scale the six foot garden fence.
“As autumn draws in, his reluctance to venture further than the sofa is becoming very apparent.”
