Each week I use this space to share my five thoughts – the good, the bad and the ugly.
But I’m not selfish, so I’m also very happy to donate the space to guest writers to have their say. Write to me using the contact details below.
1. Surely we shouldn’t have to dig the Greeks out of yet another Mezze. They set up a retirement age of 50, gave each other massive pensions and openly allowed their politicians to live off bribery. Now they want to renegotiate so they can spend, spend and spend again. No way, they should pay their debts like everyone else has to.
2. Great joy, I no longer wake up stiff in the morning. I’ve always been very scornful about pilates, but I found an old Darcey Bussell DVD and, believe me, it’s brilliant. Even after a tough hockey match, I’m far more supple first thing on a Sunday morning now.
3. Have you noticed how many people fly the Union flag upside down? I’m seriously beginning to doubt that some people even realise there is a right and a wrong way to fly it. You can rotate it, but not invert it. I recently saw it flown incorrectly at a council office, but will spare their blushes and allow then to remain nameless.
4. Biggin Hill is celebrating after a judicial enquiry found RAF Northolt, a military aerodrome, must comply with civilian safety standards. Thus creating a more level playing field for smaller private airports like Biggin Hill. This could have a direct effect in bringing new jobs to Bromley, which has to be a good thing in my book.
5. Finally, if a fox gets mange can it turn its coat blue? I only ask because we had a strange story about a blue fox spotted outside a Travelodge this week. The story went viral/ Don’t you just love Twitter?
