This week Iain Gordon, a would-be songster and Eagles fan, shares his five thoughts of the week.
1. I started my own campaign for a fair society at Kings Cross station with a protest card stating: “Don’t stand on the train, but stand for your right to a seat”. I was asked to leave the station concourse, but why? Mr Cameron says he is a defender of free speech. Train journeys per mile are more expensive than travelling on Concorde, for this the passenger should get a seat.
2. Islam means peace apparently and Muslims are against war. So why do the teachings of Jesus and Mohammed differ? The same God is worshipped, so why can’t we live together? Are some Muslims like many Germans... without a sense of humour?
3. Is Eagles Fly, my Crystal Palace song, better than You’ll Never Walk Alone? You’ll find it on YouTube: Iain Gordon Eagles Fly. And a song in support of Madeleine McCann.
4. It’s election year. It’s a miracle, all politicians know what needs to be done (y’know their theory of everything). If elected, I say make your MP work... or don’t vote for him or her.
5. The Theory of Everything is a must-see film. The trials of Stephen Hawking (although I disagree with some of his theories), are so tragic. His wife Jane would make a saint feel humble. Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones should receive Oscars, but you know what the moguls of Hollywood are like. You’ll love it, unless your penchant for a film is countless explosions, killing and maiming to hide a poor script.
Iain Gordon, Big Bear growling.
