A woman left her house on Christmas Day for the first time in 20 years to join 100 customers for a free festive meal at a Lewisham Caribbean restaurant.
Cummin' Up on Lewisham High Street opens its doors every Christmas to offer free meals to those less fortunate.
After News Shopper’s front page story on Cummin’ Up's Christmas meal, local TV crews turned up during the day and the event went viral on Twitter.
Owner of the restaurant, Richard Simpson, said it was a "fabulous day".
Mr Simpson added: "We had lots of support and many donations. The youngest we had was an eight-year-old who came down with mum.
"We don’t turn anyone away in any regard. It gives people a way of helping.
"It’s a good feeling of doing something and its part of making them rounded individuals."
Mr Simpson has been opening the restaurant on Christmas Day for the past six years, to help him and his family give back to the community.
He said: "Our idea was to help people. The locals share the view I do - there are people in need in this community."
