500 festive fundraisers registered for this year’s sell-out Santa Dash in support of Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice on 7th December in the Hospice’s third annual Santa Dash in Bexleyheath to raise funds for the Hospice.
Hundreds of fun-runners in Santa suits filled Danson Park, to run, walk, jog and even hula hoop the 5km route.
Community Fundraiser Megan Boyle, who organised the event, said: “We were overwhelmed by how popular the event was this year; we were fully booked with almost a week still to go. The dash really is an event for everyone and it was great to see people of all ages joining in, including those in buggies, wheelchairs and even a few festive-looking canine friends.”
“The event looks set to raise over £10,000, enough to supply the inpatient unit with medicines for an entire month; helping to keep our patients comfortable this Christmas.”
“Thank you to everyone who came along and took part. The event is always such a fun way to get Christmas started. We all left feeling very Christmassy and we hope you did too!”
The event was supported by the Rock Choir who performed some festive tunes for the participants to set off to. Local fitness instructor, Melissa from Bee Fun Fitness led the warm-up with music from DJ Ivan Mascarenhas and support from hospice friends England Athletics. Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice provides free end of life care and support for families across Bexley and Greenwich.
