London Fire Brigade is battling fires with fast food.

'Drunk cooking' is one of the top reasons for causing fires.

Figures from the London Fire Brigade (LFB) show that one in four people who die in fires have alcohol in their system, and three quarters of alcohol-related fires are caused by people cooking while under the influence.

They also indicated that two fires a day happen after people have been drinking.

To avoid people going from the frying pan into the fire, the LFB is on the hunt for the best take-aways in Bromley.

A 'takeaway map' is being set up, showing the area’s best greasy outlets to head to after a night on the sauce.

It is hoped it will help residents find their nearest fast food outlet, deterring them from cooking.

The public are invited to nominate their favourite eateries via the LBF's twitter using #TakeawayMap.

The results will be announced between 15-19 December, traditionally known as the Christmas party season.

LFB commissioner, Ron Dobson, said: "Drunk cooking could lead you to remember this year’s Christmas party for all the wrong reasons.

"If people cook during the festive period under the influence of alcohol they could be putting themselves and the people they love in danger.

“Let us know where the best takeaway in London is and you could be helping to persuade someone from cooking drunk."

With the campaign now in its third year, last December saw the lowest number of cooking fires since the launch.

Capital wide statistics show there 15 accidental fires a day last December, where five people lost their lives and 50 were injured.

40% of these fires were caused by cooking.
