Fire fighters had to cut the roof of a car to free its driver after a crash in Thamesmead yesterday (December 8).
The incident happened at just after 10am at the roundabout where Central Way meets Western Way.
A man in his 70s was taken to hospital as a priority.
A spokesman for the London Fire Brigade: "We were called at five past 10 and it was all over for us by 10 to 11.
"One car was in collision with street furniture. The driver was trapped inside the vehicle.
"We released him and he was taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service (LAS)."
An LAS spokeswoman said: "We were called at 10am to reports of a road traffic collision on Central Way.
"We sent an ambulance crew and a responder by car to the scene.
"We treated a man reported to be in his 70s for leg and back pain.
"He was taken to Kings College Hospital as a priority."
