Getting bums on a sofa might not sound artistic but one enterprising photographer is hoping it will revitalise the Gravesend community.
Parrock Street resident Rich Cottee is taking a sofa round the town centre for passers-by to have their pictures taken on it to promote the area’s activities.
The 50-year-old set up the project after spending the last few years photographing the local area.
He even convinced the stars of the Woodville Halls pantomime, including Shane Lynch, to have a perch as well.
Mr Cottee said: "This idea came out of seeing an abandoned sofa and taking images of it and convincing random people to sit on it.
"I posted the pictures on Facebook and asked if anyone would be interested in sitting on it around icons in Gravesham and having their images taken.
"The pictures will form part of a photographic display of "a moment in time" which will be displayed in St Andrews Arts centre next year.
"It will also show there is a lot more to Gravesham than even locals realise. "
The project is being in run in partnership with town centre manager Graham Long and the Gravesham Arts organisation.
