A man was reportedly shot as he reversed his car from a driveway in Orpington on Friday night.
Emergency services were called to Kedleston Drive at 7.08pm to reports of a shooting.
Firearm officers arrived at the house to find a man in his 30s suffering from minor injuries.
A neighbour reportedly drove the victim to a south London hospital before ambulance crews arrived. He was treated and has since been discharged.
Police believe the victim was known to the suspect, a man wearing a grey hooded top.
Orpington resident Ken Peachey, of Kedleston Drive, told News Shopper he was watching TV when he heard several loud bangs.
He said: “I didn’t really think much of it because there was some activity with fireworks at the other end of the street.
“I wondered whether a plank of wood or something had fallen down. Then I had a phone call from my neighbour to say there had been a shooting at the end of the road.
“I looked out and the car in which the gentleman had been shot was still halfway across his driveway. A neighbour put him in his car and took him to hospital.”
A London Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We sent an ambulance crew and a duty officer to the scene. We were advised that the patient made their own way to hospital.”
Officers remained at Kedleston Drive investigating on Saturday morning.
No arrests have been made and no firearm has been recovered.
Detectives from the Trident Gang Crime Command continue to investigate.
