A new campaign is asking vulnerable groups to get their free flu jab.
In aid of the campaign, Mayor of Greenwich Councillor Mick Hayes, 66, received his jab at the Vanbrugh Hill Health Centre.
People aged 65 or over, pregnant women, children and anyone with a serious medical condition are being encouraged to become 'Flu Safe' and receive their free vaccine.
Coun Hayes said: "To know that this simple jab has made me flu-safe for the winter is incredibly reassuring. I would encourage everyone who is in one of the target groups to go and have their jab right away."
Dr Ellen Wright said: "Flu is not like a cold – it can be a potentially serious illness for some people, including pregnant women.
"Older people could be also be at higher risk and are encouraged to have a free flu jab.For children, flu can also be very unpleasant and some may develop complications such as bronchitis, pneumonia or other infections."
To arrange a flu jab, contact your GP or visit a local pharmacy
