Schoolchildren clued up about their human rights celebrated a milestone in civil liberties.
Pupils at the Darrick Wood Junior School, Orpington, commemorated the 25th anniversary of The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
To commemorate the occasion, they reminded themselves of the rights and responsibilities contained within the convention.
As part of the day, Year 6 pupils Hannah Moyes, Maisy Patman, Harry Greenaway, Bobby Vaughan, John-Ross Preston and Joe Skeffington wrote: "We each wrote down our favourite right on a label, explaining why it is important to us.
"These labels were attached to nearly 400 balloons which were hung from the pagoda at the front of the school, where the local community could see and read them.
"We all sang a song about the rights in an assembly and we each wrote a letter to a minister at Westminster to inform them of our favourite rights and why they are important to us."
Andrew Kilgour, Head Teacher said: "We celebrated the anniversary because we are a Rights Respecting School, where we all try very hard to give an important message to the children about their rights.
"It is important to get the message out to the local people too."
The children celebrated on November 20.
