Bromley was overrun with festive cheer yesterday (November 30) as a sea of red-suited Santas dashed through the town centre before the Christmas lights switch on.
Around 800 locals of all ages braved the winter weather in their Santa suits for the 2km Mytime Active run from Queensmead recreation ground to the High Street.
Once the last Santa crossed the finish line, crowds gathered in Market Square to watch the Christmas lights switch on with an appearance from the Sleeping Beauty pantomime stars.
The real Father Christmas paraded past spectators on his sleigh with elves, live reindeer and a magical snow and glitter shower.
Rob Drinkwater, Mytime Active sports and events manager said: “I would like to thank everyone that helped make this event the success it was – our partners and of course, those that took part in the dash on what was a very cold day.
“It was wonderful to see so many families and friends getting active and having fun together.”
Bromley portfolio holder for renewal and recreation Councillor Peter Morgan said: “The Santa dash, festive entertainment and lights switch on in Bromley town centre provided a spectacular day for everyone who braved the cold to enjoy their town and have fun with their families.”
Bromley shoppers can also enjoy the Christmas Charter Market in the High Street from 9am to 5pm beginning December 11 until Christmas Eve.
