Dartford schoolboy Charlie Jones welled up after being told his band had been booted off the X Factor at the weekend.

The 14-year-old had managed to get to week eight of the ITV talent show but his group, Stereo Kicks, failed to make the semi finals on Sunday (Nov 30).

However the boys have vowed to stay together after bonding on the show over the last eight weeks.

Presenter Dermot O’Leary asked Charlie why he was so emotional, when the band sang Run on on Saturday (Nov 29).

The Wilmington Grammar pupil, who lives in Welling, replied: "It was the first song we sang at bootcamp and singing it again was just incredible. It was one of my best moments.

"We had to sing that with pure emotion and every single one of us did that."

The judges were initially enthusiastic and Mel B said on Saturday : "Boy did you sing tonight, thank you.

Simon said: "The song started a little bit shaky and then bang, you reminded us why we love you. I really hope people vote for you tonight."

However the following evening the eight-strong band, along with Lauren Platt received the lowest number of the votes in the competition which meant both acts performed again.

News Shopper:

Only Mel B and Louis plumped for the boys who performed Jason Mraz’s I Won’t Give Up.

Simon and Cheryl backed Lauren, sending the acts to Deadlock and leaving them relying on the public to keep them in the competition.

Stereo Kicks were booted off after receiving less votes viewers following their Saturday night performance.

In an after-show interview, Charlie said: "It was way too much for me.

"It was just so emotional because we’ve come so far."
