Lewisham Council backed a motion last week calling for work on a Lewisham Bakerloo Line extension to begin as soon as possible.
The full council motion follows a petition signed by 800 people supporting proposals to extend the Underground line from Elephant and Castle, through Lewisham, Ladywell, Catford and Sydenham into Hayes.
Leaders of Greenwich, Lewisham and Southwark Councils, along with local MPs and London Assembly members have also signed a letter to the Mayor of London supporting the plans.
Councillor Joe Dromey said: "There are 270 underground stops in London - just seven are in the south east. We need to put Lewisham on the tube map. Local people are calling on Boris to pull his finger out, deliver on his promises and get work underway as soon as possible."
A deadline for a Transport for London consultation on the proposals - which currently would not be realised until the 2030s - closes on December 7. Visit the consultation website to respond or bakerlooextension.com to sign the Lewisham campaign petition.
