A project aimed at getting people together to transform open spaces won £50,000 after the public voted in their droves.
The Space Invaders project - a collaboration between charity Wide Horizons and social landlord Phoenix Community Housing - plans to improve five open spaces, as well as offering new volunteering and training opportunities.
It will build on regeneration in Downham, Catford and Bellingham, such as the recently-opened Peter Pan's Park.
Space Invaders was one of two projects competing for funding through last night's edition of The People’s Millions on ITV and came out as the winner.
Bellingham ward's Councillor Alan Hall said: "Thank you to every one who voted for Space Invaders as this will make a real difference to south Lewisham and involve over 80 people."
