The whole area is getting festive as Christmas lights are switched on across Lewisham and Greenwich.
In Greenwich the traditional Christmas countdown began with pupils from four schools - St Alfege with St Peters, James Wolfe Primary School, Meridian Primary School and St Matthew Academy - taking part in a magical lantern parade with the help of local company ArtyParty.
Inspired by pantomime characters, the children's lanterns included a glass slipper, a massive cow, an enormous beanstalk and even seven dwarfs.
Father Christmas, meanwhile, will appear in the market on December 13, 14, 20, 21, 22 and 23.
Head of property at site owners Greenwich Hospital Gillie Bexson said: "This year’s colourful panto lanterns really stole the show and Greenwich Hospital is very proud to be the sponsors of this fabulous event."
The event followed on from Eltham's annual Lights Up celebrations, with another lantern parade, a Mad Hatter-themed party and musical performances.
And there is further festive fun to come with the Woolwich Winter Warmer in General Gordon Square from noon on December 6.
On the same day, stars from this year’s Broadway Theatre pantomime Richard Blackwood and Nicole Faraday, will turn on the Christmas tree lights on Catford Broadway at 4.30pm.
