Blustery winds and heavy downpours failed to deter more than 1,900 children from competing in cross country at Crystal Palace Park.
Fifty primary schools from across Bromley borough took part with boys and girls aged seven to 11 pacing through the falling rain and mud.
The Bromley Primary Schools’ Cross Country Competition, thought to be the UK’s largest event of its kind, celebrated its 26th year.
Teacher at Bromley’s Princes Plain Primary Chris Sackett is part of a volunteer team, which organises two races each year.
He said: “The event was a tremendous success with a great deal of positive feedback from both parents and teaching staff who were present throughout.”
The Year 3 and 4 Girls and Boys 1700m winners were Helena O’Daly and Billy Eastwood and the Year 5 and 6 Girls and Boys 1800m winners were Ellie Dolby and Sam Reardon.
