A sharp-shooting Bexleyheath store worker is gearing up for a national archery competition.
Michelle Sword, aged 31 from Howard Road, Dartford, is taking part in the National Indoor Championships in Coventry after taking up the sport just two years ago.
Miss Sword, who works as a team leader at Argos in Broadway Shopping Centre, took up the unusual hobby after an injured Achilles forced her to give up athletics.
She said: "I always said, if I had to give up running, I would take up archery, just like my partner Michael.
"It’s only been two years since I picked up my first bow but I really enjoy the competitive edge."
The archer will take part in the national competition on December 7 in preparation for a national series of competitions in the new year.
She added: "My aim is to get an outdoor national ranking and then compete out in Las Vegas."
