One of the most ambitious and lauded arena shows is coming facing its final curtain call but not before a swansong in Greenwich.

Jeff Wayne’s musical version of The War of the Worlds has toured the UK six times and will roll into the O2 arena for two last shows on Saturday, December 13.

Starring Jason Donovan, Brian McFadden, Shayne Ward and the 3D hologram of Liam Neeson, the show is set to go out with a bang.

Ramping up the effects, it will feature a 100ft animated wall, cutting edge CGI, a three-tonne 35ft Martian Fighting Machine and a cast member being incinerated before the audience’s eyes.

For the first time, Bromley author of the sci-fi classic HG Wells will also make an appearance.

Jeff Wayne said: “Over the years TWOTW has built a reputation by challenging our creative team to add   new ingredients to every production that would move and excite our audiences further.

“For our final UK arena tour, I decided that it was time to give TWOTW creator – HG Wells a chance to ‘have his say’, about why he wrote what has become known as the first science fiction story ever written, and its meaning to the real world we live in.”

Wayne’s original, star-studded double album was released in 1978 and sold 15 million records. After the stage shows, he has decided it is time to take The War of the Worlds in a new direction.
