A 21-year-old poker ace from Woolwich scooped a £200,000 jackpot yesterday in a Texas Hold ‘Em tournament lasting a staggering five days.
Lithuanian Matas Cimbolas, of Greens End, earns a living competing in various tournaments and said last night’s win was the biggest triumph of his five year career.
He said: “I feel amazing and I just cannot believe that I won it. It’s fantastic to have won that money and to be honest I’m still shocked.
“It was a very long and tough competition with some very good players and professionals that took part. In fact it was the hardest competition I have ever done. It was really tiring and very difficult.”
Players from across the globe attended the World Poker Tour in Nottingham’s Dusk Till Dawn club but it was Mr Cimbolas’s winning King-Jack hand that crowned him champion.
Asked what he plans to spend his winnings on, the talented player said: “I would really like to travel the world more or maybe buy a flat and a new car.
“I’m just so happy that I have won the money and still so surprised that I haven’t really thought about what to spend it on.”
