Top 10 goals people want to achieve by age 40:
- Have £10,000 saved in the bank
- Own your own home
- Visit Paris and the Eiffel Tower
- Get married
- Visit Australia
- Pay off mortgage
- See the Northern Lights
- Set up your own business or work for yourself
- Stay in a five-star hotel
- Gain a Master’s degree
Earning more than £50,000 a year is number 13 on the list of things people want to achieve by age 40.
This is ahead of getting married which is only number 16 and falling in love which is down at number 33.
Londoners are the least likely to have gotten married by the time they reach 40; over half (52 per cent) of over-40s in the capital said they were unmarried at this age.
Nearly two in five (39 per cent) 18-29-year-olds think they should have taken a selfie with a celebrity by the time they reach 40.
