Crystal Palace celebrity Seymour the Cat has found fame once more as the face of the town’s unofficial calendar.

Local couple Paul and Lindsay Melbourne have created the community calendar inspired by stories made famous via a well-known Crystal Palace Facebook page.

Furry fugitive Seymour, who gained celebrity status after his disappearance led to a town-wide appeal earlier this year, stars in the calendar as Mr March.

The exotic short hair, who went missing for five weeks, was found after owner Laura Price posted her plight on Facebook group Crystal Palace Local.

Mr Melbourne, of Central Hill, said he wanted to create an alternative calendar featuring some local tales and familiar faces from Crystal Palace.

The 29-year-old told News Shopper: “There's such a community feel in Crystal Palace. You always see the same faces out and about.

“We wanted to do a calendar that captures that. It’s been really fun putting it together and the reaction has been good so far.”

A lost leg of Spanish ham, which local resident Rosanna Peirson almost tripped over while walking to Gipsy Hill station last month, features for the month of October.

Good Taste Food and Drink, a speciality cheese, beer and wine shop on Westow Hill also makes an appearance.

Owner Manish Utton-Mishra is well-known for writing cheese puns and quotes on the chalk board outside his shop.

 


 

Local photographer Joel Antune snapped several images for the calendar including the cover photo.

The rest of the calendar snaps were taken by 33-year-old Mrs Melbourne, who works as a safety manager for Network Rail.

Fundraising manager Mr Melbourne added: “We’ve had quite a lot of orders and I said I’d deliver them all on my bike. I’m not sure that was such a good idea now!

“My favourite month of the calendar is March. Seymour is such a cute cat and he’s a local legend.”

The calendars are on sale at the Crystal Palace Food Market on Haynes Lane every Saturday leading up to Christmas.

It can also be bought online at www.unofficialCPcalendar.co.uk.

The couple plan to donate some of the profits to a local foodbank.
