Two images, claiming to show a couple having sex in Bluewater car park, have been seen thousands of times on social media.

The images, which have been shared on Twitter and Facebook, appear to show the couple engaging in foreplay before having sex.

Kent Police were unable to comment on the incident, but said: "Kent Police has a policy which recognises police intervention may be necessary, legitimate and proportionate to deal with any offences committed by people who seek public locations for sexual purposes.

"Where we are made aware of reports or complaints involving this sort of activity they are taken seriously and are dealt with on a case by case basis.

"A variety of crimes could be reported to police including gross indecency, public order, assault and any sexual offence.

"If residents are concerned or witness any suspicious behaviour, they should report these concerns to Kent Police.

"All reports would be investigated, no matter how minor the offence appeared to be."

Bluewater refused to comment.
