Greenwich Council has won an award for helping small businesses take advantage of this year's Tall Ships festival.
The authority bagged Best Place-Based Campaign to Support Local Trade for its ‘Get on Board’ campaign at the Small Business Friendly Borough Awards.
According to the council, many business reported record takings and visitor numbers during September's five-day festival.
Its campaign saw staff visit as many businesses as possible to help plan for high visitor numbers and to offer support.
Cabinet member for business and employment Councillor Sizwe James said: "We’re very proud to accept this award and are delighted our local businesses used skill, innovation and positivity to make the most of the fantastic opportunity that the Tall Ships Festival presented.
"One of the main reasons to host the Tall Ships event at all was for the undoubted boost it would provide to our local economy and our local businesses really rose to that challenge - and have reaped the rewards."
