The director of the Dartford theatre school which helped launch Gemma Arterton’s career, has left after unspecified allegations against him were dismissed.
Five months later and his suspension has been lifted after the probe found no foundation in the claims against him, but Mr McGovan has nevertheless decided to step down.
He had been with North West Kent College, of which Miskin Theatre in Oakfield Lane is a part, for 24 years.
Gravesend actress Gemma Arterton began on her way to stardom after enrolling on a course at Miskin.
A North West Kent College spokesman said: “Robbie McGovan’s suspension from his employment, as academic director for the arts department at North West Kent College, has been lifted and the allegations against him have been dismissed.
“Sadly, Robbie has now decided to tender his resignation from the college. “Robbie has provided the college with exceptional service over the last 24 years and he leaves with our thanks and best wishes for his future endeavours.”
